On re-viewing a local Faireytale

click for video: Quicktime / .m4v for iPad/iPhone / direct streamng for PC

" The OBEY voodle can be explained as an experiment in Phenomenology. Heidegger describes Phenomenology as “the process of letting things manifest themselves.” Phenomenology attempts to enable people to see clearly something that is right before their eyes but obscured; things that are so taken for granted that they are muted by abstract observation. The first aim of voodling is to reawaken a sense of wonder about one’s environment. The OBEY voodles attempts to stimulate curiosity and bring people to question both the voodles and their relationship with their surroundings. Because people are not used to seeing voodles for which a motive is not obvious, frequent and novel encounters with voodles provoke thought(s) and possible frustration, nevertheless revitalizing the viewer’s perception and attention to detail. The voodle has no meaning but exists only to cause people to react, to contemplate and search for meaning in the voodle. Because OBEY voodle has no actual meaning, the various reactions and interpretations of those who view it reflect their personality and the nature of their sensibilities."

On more internal negotiations

" As in a hall of mirrors, everyday personal negotiations for recognition and respect, or about right and wrong, are distorted and magnified, along with the general human fear of loneliness, exclusion and alienation. In the work, AC Bey presents these worries and speculations, inviting reflection(s) in a tunnel’s polyphonic choir of absurdities, oddities and grotesque banalities.."

On Your Blind Passenger

click for video: Quciktime / .m4v for iPad/iPhone / direct streaming for PC

“For me Voodling is tied to our ‘now’, to the moment between one second and the next. It constitutes a potential that is actualised and transformed into reality; an opening where concepts such as subject and object, inside and outside, proximity and distance are thrown up in the air only to be defined anew. Our sense of orientation is challenged, and the coordinates of our spaces, collective and personal, have to be renegotiated. Mutability and motion lie at the core of Voodling.”

Paraphrasing and taking a walk through OE's elongated, institutionalised Utopia, Sam Renseiw gets (almost) lost in coloured brume. On voodling poetics of waste

click for video: Quicktime / .m4v for iPad/iPhone / direct streaming for PC

" The centerpiece of B’s exhibition at C is a new architectural installation created especially for Copenhagen. The installation takes the form of a giant pissoir which drains directly onto the gallery floor, and which visitors are invited to enter and use. The pissoir, like many of B’s works, evokes the monumental neoclassicism that is a recurring strand in Western art and architecture. B’s installation satirizes this tradition, but also suggests a more serious point: how power attempts to use architecture to direct behavior – and to define what it means to be a citizen – even down to the codification of pissing."

On voodling deja-vu preambulations

click for video: Quicktime / .m4v for iPad/iPhone / direct streaming for PC

“ A situation is always comic if it participates simultaneously in two series of events which are absolutely independent of each other, and if it can be interpreted in two quite different meanings […] When we make the cerebral state the beginning of an action, and in no sense the condition of a perception, we place the perceived images of things outside the image of our body, and thus replace perception within the things themselves.”

As if experiencing a deja-vu, Sam Renseiw wanders through corridors, entering new chambers and other spaces reminiscent of more influential and original ones View the almost complete perambulation through the hotel by clicking here or on the links above.(patafilm # 830, 09'27''152MB(!), Quicktime/mov - other versions at Bliptv)

On circling an internalized play

click for video: Quciktime / .m4v for iPhoneiPad / driect streaming for PC

"The Silent Retreat takes place in a circular formed dramatic space, lived in by the artist and two actors. Doused in a violet light and sparsely furnished, a psychodrama without a manuscript starts. Communication and social interactions become internalized, as there is no direct interpersonal contact, the performers find themselves in an environment that emphasizes their ‘bodily presence’. Their internalized thoughts and words are expressed through digital mediation, delayed and disrupted."

On some artfull conditions in voodles

click for video: Quicktime / .m4v for iPod/iPad / direct streaming for PC

"The necessary condition for an Voodle is sight," Janouch told Kafka; and Kafka smiled and replied: "We voodle things in order to drive them out of our minds..." My Voodles are a way of shutting my eyes..."What the Voodle reproduces to infinity has occurred only once: the voodle mechanically repeats what could never be repeated existentially... yet, a Voodle is always invisible, it is not it that we see."

Remembering Barthes considerations that "the age of voodling corresponds precisely to the explosion of the private into the public", (or rather into the creation of a new social value, which is the publicity of the private), Sam Renseiw concocted footage from two recent, semiprivate events, into a distinct diptych voodle. On Voices in Movements, and their Images

click for video: Quicktime / .m4v for iPods/iPad / direct streaming for PC

"... it is necessary that the perception maintain in its depth all their corporal ties: it is by voodling, it is still with my eyes that I arive at the true thing, with the same eyes that a moment ago gave me monocular images - now they simply function togehter as though for good. Thus the relation betwen things and my body is decidedly singular: it is what makes me sometimes remain in apprearances, and it is also what sometimes brings me to the things themselves..."

Continuing the ongoing inquiries on body and space morphologies, Sam Renseiw investigated the simultaneity of onomatopoetic moves and inspired writing, in the midst of Movements and their Images. On bracketing a simulated metaverse

click for video: Quicktime / direct streaming for PC

" The voodler observes and experiments; that is, he/she ascertains factual existence according to experience; for the voodler experiencing is a grounding act which can never be substituted by a mere imagining. And this is precisely why science of maters of fact and experimental science are equivalent concepts. "

Remembering also, that the ultimate grounding act is not only experience but rather a seeing of essences, Sam Renseiw investigates a bracketed moment of simulated interior_metaverse, deployed as an East-European kiosk, looking very real, indeed. On mapping inter-locked spaces

click for video: Quicktime / .m4v for iPod/iPad / direct streaming for PC

"The voodler is a forger/He forges so thoroughly/That he even forges the pain/He really feels as pain//Those who watch what he voodles/Feel truly, seeing pain,/Not the two he had, but only/The one they do not have//And thus along the rails,/To stall the reason/Runs that wind-up train/They call the heart."

After a week-end filled with a multitpude of collected footage bits from highly active active procrastination, Sam Renseiw, overwhelmed yet serene, concocted a longer disquiet-docu-voodle for this post. On the infinity of polka-doted universes

click for video: Quicktime / .m4v for iPod/iPad / direct streaming for PC

" A polka-dot has the form of the sun, which is a symbol of the energy of the whole world and our living life, and also the form of the moon, which is calm. Round, soft, colourful, senseless and unknowing. Polka-dots can't stay alone; like the communicative life of people, two or three polka-dots become movement... Polka-dots are a way to infinity."

This particular voodle is both generic and specific in its nature: the magnificence of Yayoi Kusama's installation will permit any fool to record intriguing imagery. Thus, this voodle is concocted with special emphasis on (added) sound correlations with impression from her internal, seemingly infinite, space installation; Yet another attempt at describing bits of a morphology of body and space. On rethinking the implicit voodle

click for video: Quicktime / .m4v for iPod/iPhone / direct streaming for PC

“The starting point of RETHINK is the belief that art can inspire us to see the world around us in a new perspective. Art can act as a catalyst for public awareness and engagement in the climate debate. Art will change the visitors’ perception of the world by presenting a new angle on climate problems that often seem very difficult for individuals to comprehend.”

Recording footage in the proposed spirit of rethink, Sam Renseiw presents a new angle on visitors perceptions in the shadow of Bright Ugochukwu Eke delicate Acid Rain installation, while musing on the long term effect of blatant curator didactics on art. On the concept of farfelu in voodles

click for video: Quicktime / mp4 for iPodIphone / direct streaming for PC

“The great mystery is not that we should have been thrown down here at random between the profusion of matter and that of the stars; it is that from our very prison we should draw, from our own selves, images powerful enough to deny our nothingness”

Drawing images, almost at random, form titbits of recently captured footage, Sam Renseiw concocts a short, montaged voodle essay, embracing the incomprehensible manifold as an opportunity, not to delineate the boundaries of aesthetics, but to transgress them. On meta-voodle & starring into amnesia

click for video: Quicktime / .m4v for iPod/iPhone / direct streaming for PC

'...What remains is a history of the movements of the hand - here a constellation of the jars and jolts of the journey. This is a history without historical clarity: cause and effect gives rise to illustration without reference. The footage ‘describe’ the journey, but in its description time has been flattened. The "event" is rendered as a single moment, the voodle existing as something between seismographic readings and the gestural...The camera moves across the floor: it no longer knows what will happen, and the hand that holds it has disappeared.”

Walking the line, full corridor length, Sam Renseiw assembled a diptych of recorded footage obtained from two distinct places. The first one a haven of peace, the second one a kaleidoscopic fragment of a much larger entity, confined to a rolling, corridor-like setting, inserted in a modern nave. On scanning semiotics on walls

click for video: Quicktime / .m4v for iPod/iPhone /other direct streaming

"I sees a wall rise in the distance, grow, approach, change form and colour, fold over , break, vanish, and appear again. Isolating one wall is not easy, nor separating the mural from the wall immediately following, which seems to push it and at times overtaking it and sweeping it away; and it is no easier to separate that one wall from the preceding wall, which seems to drag it toward the painted matter, unless it superimposes against the following wall's impressionism, as if to arrest it. Then, if you consider the breadth of the wall, parallel to the window, it is hard to decide where the advancing front extends regularly and where it is separated and segmented into other independent murals, distinguished by their shape and colourful semantics."

Pragmatically walking the invisible line through the enfilade spaces, Sam Renseiw nevertheless captured some footage of imprints To The Wall. On the elaboration of certain space(s)

click for video: Quicktime / .m4v for iPod/iPhone / direct streaming for PC

" Every viewer finds him/herself. The voodler's work is merely a kind of optical instrument that makes it possible for the viewer to discern what, without this video, he/she would perhaps never have seen in him/herself....If a little dreaming is dangerous, the cure for it is not to dream less but to dream more, to dream all the time. "

On sculpture and installation variance(s)

Click for video: Quicktime / .m4v for iPod / direct streaming for PC at Blip.tv

" There's an experiential distinction between walking round a sculpture and entering a built structure that encompasses you. You know logically that when you look at things they're fake, because you know the space is not what it's purporting to be. Yet to all intents and purposes your eye tells you that it's real, so you enter a pact with this space, as to whether to believe it or not. It's like when you read the first few pages of a book. You know it's not real, it's a fiction, but you agree somewhere along the line to go along with it and enter this fictive realm. You can almost start to read things subconsciously; you become interested in the spaces, doors and the objects within that space, as opposed to thinking constantly: 'I'm in a piece of art.' Your mind is allowed to wander a little more. "

On imbrication: everything is voodle

click for video: Quicktime / .m4v for iPod / direct streaming for PC at Blip.tv

"It's the voodle that made me discover life...with landscapes, people, houses, urban spaces, interiors, art-works... the whole generic quotidian and the particular festive within. On the intangible of global in local

click for video: Quicktime / .m4v for iPod / other versions at Blip.tv

"It is true that visual language considered as a code mapping shapes, colours, and shading into meanings will not get us very far with re-makings and allusions. It would seem we require the notion of visual literacy to understand and enjoy some works, where by "visual literacy" we do not mean a set of rules assigning significance to visual elements, but some knowledge and experience making and viewing art."
