"States of schizophrenia are native to meta_voodle’s present-absence, its not quite-existence, its fictionalization of truth and its verification of illusion. For Kant, “This fundamental principle of the necessary unity of apperception is indeed an identical, and therefore analytical proposition; but it nevertheless explains the necessity for a synthesis of the manifold given in an intuition, without which the identity of self-consciousness would be incogitable”. Now, self-consciousness is indeed “cogitable,” but is it necessary? The axiom that communication is human may lead to individual human communicators, but it need not, since selfhood is a derivative of communication, a special effect of a particular historical mode of communication. Since self-consciousness is no longer a given but an effect, synthesizing the myriad sensations that crowd upon us into recognizable identities is also in question. I am thus never sure whether what I perceive is raw phenomenality, abstract identity, or synthetic truth."

" The infamous Oracle has reached her final shore where a last Game will be played to her honour and in the hope of deliverance. Six luckless players will, once again, compete for their life by the mercy of The Masters and the wheels of fortune... Almost 100 years after her disappearance, servants of The Game found a small boat washed up on the Romanian Black Sea shore. In it lay a woman bearing a strong resemblance to The Oracle, who was last seen at the very same place. The boat and its contents were carried to the camp of the Older and the Younger Master of The Game. It was received there by The Game Goddess, The Masters and the weary players with awe and high hopes. Three nights of miraculous occurrences followed. Upon the third morning the Oracle´s body showed the first signs of decomposition and was then devoured by the Goddess of the Game and thus preserved for her final journey."

" In this way, if we repeat the principal states of Voodling, the figure of a dancer - moving a foot, in mid-air, pirouetting - will even when not possessing its own trajectory or offering a dynamic sensation, be much more like a dancer, and much more like dancing, than would a single figure frozen in just one of the states that build up a movement. The Voodle therefore can be invaded and pervaded by the essence of the subject. It can be obsessed by the subject to the extent that it energetically invades and obsesses the public with its own values. It will not exist as a passive object over which an unconcerned viewer can take control for its own enjoyment. It will be an active thing that imposes its own extremely free essence on the viewers, though this will not be graspable with the insipid facility common to all videos that are too faithful to ordinary reality. The secret was there, in those pages, woven out of syllables and images. He entrusted it to me just before he died. Untitled testimonials III

The only problems were during sequencing, when we had to do something on the Mac that would take some time. Two minutes into it, M. would ask us: "What are you guys doing that's taking so long!" - and this was just after the first few minutes. We'd tell her to go downstairs and make some popcorn or phone calls so that we could put the film together and she'd do that for about five minutes before screaming: "Come on, guys, I'm getting bored!" I had to keep things moving as fast as possible because it's one of my jobs to keep M. from losing interest in what she's doing. As far as the video went, it was getting a little melancholic by that point. Maybe I inspired videos like In This Life and Bad Girl because they were shot in a minor key..
