On the nature of expectations

" One has worked vainly when one has done so without success, so that one has wasted one's time and effort: one has worked in vain when one has done so without attaining the intended goal, because of the defectiveness of the work. If I cannot complete my task, I work vainly; I am uselessly wasting my time and effort. If the task I have done does not have the effect I was expecting, if I have not attained my goal, I have worked in vain; that is to say, I have done something useless.... It is also said that someone has worked vainly when he has not been rewarded for his work, or when this work has not been accepted; because in this case the voodler has wasted his time and effort, without this at all prejudicing the value of his work, which can be very good.."

Concocting a speed-voodle from left-over footage from a recent visit, Sam Renseiw speculates on the actual possibilities of sustainable approaches and simultaneously wishing for more subdued, humble roles to assign architecture in retrospect. On eye and mind in certain voodles

" Scientific thinking, a thinking which looks from above, and thinks of the object-in-general, must return to the "there is" which underlies it; to the site, the soil of the sensible and opened world such as it is in our life and for our body - not that possible body which we may legitimately think of as an information machine but that actual body I call mine, this sentinel standing quietly at the command of my words and my acts. Further, associated bodies must be brought forward along with my body - the "others", not merely as my congeners, as the zoologist says, but the others who haunt me and whom I haunt; the "others" along with whom I haunt a single, present, and actual Being as no animal ever haunted those beings of his own species, locale, or habitat. "

Moving about in the world's first garden suburbia, Sam Renseiw reflects on the phenomenology of stability as exemplified in a particular house while further moving along graded interiors. Supplementary hummingbird

" Flowers should be chosen for their ability to produce nectar, to grow well in your particular region, and to be in bloom when the hummingbirds need them. These provide the fundamental basis for creating a hummingbird-friendly yard or garden."

Inspired by Ryanne and Cheryl's delicate hummingbird promos, Sam Renseiw encountered a moving installation by Tove Storch at Exit' 07 featuring yet another hummingbird. A promo tribute to the dedicated and enthusiastic work of the Pixelodeon team. View the flapping wing beats with added stormbugs flip-flap by clicking here or on the links above.
