On interference fringe patterns

click for: Quicktime version / Flash version

"Information involved in light as spatial and temporal variations of its intensity, phase, wavelength or other parameters is detected as image data. Images obtained in this way may contain random features in some way, whether they are a natural image, interference fringe pattern, scattering pattern or spectroscopic image, and hence statistical approaches play an important role in their processing."

Developing the journalistic gaze a step further, Sam Renseiw followed the projection of Ball's Synthesis to a eight's level. Basic sound techniques involve pruning

" Other techniques have already appeared recently and we can foresee that just as the invention of new musical instruments changes the whole sensibility of an era, the phenomenon of light can, due to scientific progress, among other things, become the new tool for the new artist."

While watching some arborsculptural developments after a daydreaming workshop, Sam Renseiw captured a short glimpse of Sanderson's pruning the weather on other branches. Oneironautics 1.01

"When you are dealing with a legend that has two traditions -- one that sometimes says one thing but at other times says something else -- it is not wrong to base your interpretation on either of the two traditions, even if you do not choose the right one. But it is better to know and to relate both versions..."

While daydreaming in blizzard like settings - although indoors - Sam Renseiw paraphrases Artemidorus with some newly captured footage, just voodling around. Facing the serendipitous shadow

click for: Quicktime version / Flash version

" Synchronicity is no more baffling or mysterious than the discontinuities of physics. It is only the ingrained belief in the souvereign power of causality that creates intellectual difficulties and makes it appear unthinkable that causeless events exist or could ever occur. But if they do, then we must regard them as creative acts, as the continuous creation.."

The resolution of binocular rivalry

Click for: Quicktime version / Flash version

" One describes a tale best by telling the tale. The way one describes a story, to oneself or the world, is by telling the story. It is a balancing act and it is a dream. The more accurate the map, the more it resembles the territory. The most accurate map possible would be the territory, and thus would be perfectly accurate and perfectly useless. The tale is the map that is the territory."

Further pondering on the intricate relationships between symbol and object, Sam Renseiw prepared a short piece of semantic reactive footage - that can be viewed by clicking here or by mouse-mapping the territory behind the figure above. Dual diary raid laud

" My painting is visible images which conceal nothing; they evoke mystery and, indeed, when one sees one of my pictures, one asks oneself this simple question - 'What does that mean'? It does not mean anything, because mystery means nothing either, it is unknowable."

Reflecting on the contradictory treachery of images, Sam Renseiw doccumented a map-territorry relation, while srutenizing certain portraits. The quivering focus on Golden Age

Click for: Quicktime version / Flash version

“I was once to take something including a black bottle to a man in the town (…) By chance I became aware that the area was reflected in a reduced size in the bottle; I now saw here a painting of the surroundings, so beautiful, so perfect, so true. I often subsequently used this means, happy at this discovery.”

Somehow still shaken by the continuous drive for visual perfection, Sam Renseiw attempted to extend the frame-set in a peculiar interior space, symmetrically flanked by four C.W Eckersberg model studies. The pop-corn archive

Click for: Quicktime version / Flash version

I said this seems to me a crazy metaphysic. It seems to me that its full craziness comes out only when we take the spatial analogy seriously. The metaphysic yields that if I have had exactly one bit of chalk in my hand for the last hour, then there is something in my hand which is white, roughly cylindrical in shape, and dusty, something which also has a weight, something which is chalk, which was not in my hand three minutes ago, and indeed, such that no part of it was in my hand three minutes ago. As I hold the bit of chalk in my hand, new stuff, new chalk keeps constantly coming into existence ex nihilo. That strikes me as obviously false."

Remarking on an ongoing controversy on Four Dimentionalism, Sam Renseiw mashed-up an old popcorn-ad from drive-in movie theatre and some space footage from a venerable Danish architectural drawing archive. People like us, in art galleries

Click for: Quicktime version / Flash version

"Sometimes, there is a confusion between reality and unreality. What is considered to be a real presence is an unreal presence for some people and vice versa. This phenomenon is more obvious in the visual arts. What is presented and represented ? "

As the distinction between reality and unreality is increasingly blurred, Sam Renseiw pursued the capture of more footage to shed light on this issue. View the recent attempt by clicking here or mouse-in the increasingly blurred space above. ( patafilm # 352, 03'42'', 16.9 MB, Quicktime/Mov - Flash version at

On the town, inside somehow

click for: Quicktime version / Flash version

" Gene Kelly warned me not to be a damned fool, but I'd seen the things those kids got up to on television doing all sorts of tricks. What a routine I could have worked up for a film sequence if they had existed a few years ago. Anyway I was practising in my drive-way."

Practising a slower, boring drive-way, Sam Renseiw, moving along, inside somehow, remembers some footage from on the town and a peculiar clip. View the cryptic montage by clicking here or step-in above.(patafilm # 349, 01'08'', 5,3 MB, Quicktime/Mov - Flash version at Blip tv)

On the Dao of various Characters

Click for: Quicktime version / Flash version

" If we think, for example, of the performance of being as a theatrical performance which has no beginning or end, thereby removing all traces of an offstage, we find that we can speak of the performance as something that "is" in the absolute sense of that term: that is to say, as something that is not conditional or relative to anything else."

Trying, once again, to make a blurred footage statement beyond the prescriptions of metaphysics, Sam Renseiw attentively followed selected female gazes upon male body-building, medical examinations and policemen. Sweeping any-space-whatever

click for: Quicktime version / Flash version

"Any-space-whatever is not an abstract universal, in all times, in all places. It is a perfectly singular space, which has merely lost its homogeneity, that is, the principle of its metric relations or the connection of its own parts, so that the linkages can be made in an infinite number of ways. It is a space of virtual conjunction, grasped as pure locus of the possible"

Acknowledging the dispersive situation, the deliberately weak links, the consciousness of clichés and the condemnation of any plot, Sam Renseiw offers a piece of inconspicuous sweeping floor footage. Enter the corridor by clicking here or sweep in by mousing on the image above. ( Patafilm # 347, 02'51'', 21 MB, Quicktime/mov - Flash version at

the spatial logic of abstracted geometry

click for: Quicktime version / Flash version

"The visitor's experience is not limited to the building, but the contents it houses should be read already from the different approaches it offers. The critique of the edge is thus replaced by a notion of fluid interaction between the garden and the interior programme, and it acts a constant instrument of gradation that allows for different conditions to appear."

The new Zaha interiors somehow seem to be quite a conventional shell for art viewing, speculated Sam Renseiw, while recently capturing some odd footage of Kvium art viewers in the Ordrupgaard extension. Force majeure and temporary lapse

"Wine is one of the most civilized things in the world and one of the most natural things of the world that has been brought to the greatest perfection, and it offers a greater range for enjoyment and appreciation than, possibly, any other purely sensory thing."

Except when spilled on a laptop keyboard mumbles Sam Renseiw in despair, addditionaly suffering from a classic case of forgotten back-up. With some patience, more patafilms might allready be up by the end of the week, hopefully. (just a pata-jpeg tumbnail today, no video:so sorry)
