On spatial signifier in voodles

"...when the spatial signifiers are given wide play -as opposed to the practice in what are know as "static, theatrical" videos - voodles create spatial relations that implicate an ever expanding set of spaces in a process akin to what Barthes calls a "metonymic skid" of space: each space adding to its neighbour some new trait, some new departure. It is at this point that a (Renseiw) voodle becomes truly "spacial", that one of its narrative acts is the creation of space. The expanding (contracting, pulsation) array of elated spaces is as much part of the voodle text as the characters, their movements, their words and it constitutes a narrative in combination with them."

On cognition and space voodling

"4.111 Voodling is not one of the video arts. (The word 'voodle' must mean something whose place is above or below the video arts, not beside them.) 4.112 Voodling aims at the logical clarification of video imagery. Voodling is not a body of doctrine but an activity. A Voodle work consists essentially of elucidations. Voodling does not result in 'video propositions', but rather in the clarification of propositions. Without Voodling moving images are, as it were, cloudy and indistinct, even in High-Definition mode: its task is to make them clear and to give them sharp boundaries, sometimes through the use of blur. 4.113 Voodling sets limits to the much disputed spheres of VJ'ing and vloging.4.121 Voodles show the logical form of reality. They display it. 4.1212 What can be shown, cannot be said."

Further dabbling with attempts to circumscribe the nature(s) of voodling, Sam Renseiw paraphrases some of Ludwig W's propositions into voodle transpositions, while assembling a species of spaces (with familiar resemblance) into a duck-rabbit like spatial voodle construct. On altered, descriptive contemplation

" Patalab's voodles closely follow Mr. Palomar's thematic triad: the first type of voodles are chiefly concerned with visual experiences and tend to be purely descriptive; the second deal with anthropological and cultural themes, and the experience involves, apart from visual experiences, language, signs, symbols and added soundtracks. These voodles have a tendency to develop into narratives of sort; The third delineate more speculative experiences, relating these to larger questions on the nature of cosmos, time, infinity, the relationships between ego and world, between mind and matter. From being a descriptive and narrative voodle, it can mutate into something more meditative. Sometimes a voodle becomes a blend of the above themes, and might extends the contemplative nature even further. "

Anémic Cinéma

" The 'rotoreliefs'' visual oscillation only results from spinning the disks. There is a double contrast here: between static image and the motion image, as well as between the two interpretations of the illusion of positive and negative volumes. It is not possible to "see" both volumes at the same time just as it is not possible to experience the illusion while the disk is stationary. The shift from one volume to the other makes the observer aware of the way biological vision gets interpreted into "seeing."

A round of golf

"One of your goals may be to have a lifestyle where you are a member of an exclusive golf resort. Thus symbolically you may decide that you will play a round of golf on a luxury golf course. And, while you are playing that round of golf, you fully engage all of your mind powers to create the life you want whereby you can easily see the reality of this because you are actually doing it. Then, later, you would relive this round of golf and use the communication between your conscious and subconscious minds to create the Video you actually want."

Magic teater : entrance not for everybody

"... I tried to open the door, but the heavy old latch would not stir. The display too was over. It had suddenly ceased, sadly convinced of its uselessness. I took a few steps back, landing deep into the mud, but no more letters came. The display was over. For a long time I stood waiting in the mud, but in vain. " Spring is the beginning of the Chinese New Year, usually at the end of January for the lunisolar calendar or early February for the solar calendar. After the long, cold Winter, the sun begins to warm the earth again, triggering new plant growth. Because of this, Spring and the Spring equinox is associated with the Wood element. Because the day also begins to warm in the morning as the sun rises, Spring is associated with the East direction. So these are associated with the left side of the Tai Ji, where the yang is increasing."

The extraordinary machine

" I suppose infinity always dazzles us, and I have never been able to build up a good intuition about the concept. The problem is compounded here because there are actually two infinities competing with each other: there is the infinite volume of space, and there is the infinite shrinkage, or compression, represented by the padded, counter space singularity. However much you shrink an infinite space, it is still infinite. On the other hand, any finite region within infinite space, however large, can be compressed to a single area just under the sales counter…"

A state of profane meditation

“…It may sound farfetched to speak of watching a movie as a meditative discipline...but parallels do exist. There is a familiar type of meditation called one-pointedness, which focuses the meditator's attention through the repetition of a single sound or mental image. Yet another meditation practice encourages the sitter to let thoughts fall freely and disorientedly, without anchoring them to any one point…”
