Lady Africa is a heroine

["Lady Africa is a heroine of silent resistance with bounteous bosoms of comforting tenderness. Her constitution is strong but her sacrifices are endless. Her pain is a stab deep into the aorta of the Earth."]

On his expedition to the depths of the African continent, recording more misery, Sam Renseiw was introduced to Lady and Queen Africa, never meeting Stanley. Actually, it's pure reality!

The video is one (of many) posted attempts to record some of the amazing interactions happening between the public and the performers in Signa Soerensen's latest performance play "Seven Tales of Misery" ( Performing at Plex, Copenhagen, Sept. 9 - 30). Try the links in the posted texts on patalab02 last week, for more info.

Signa's amazing performances, always with superb, somehow surreal -between Twin Peaks, Blue Velvet and all- "staging", and well "instructed" performers, radically involves the "audience" in the set "dramaturgy". Thus, creating a consistent blur between the realities of the strict drama unfolding and the biassed imagination of the involved "public".

Although these kinds of performances have been tried before, her plays always seem to challenge this genre to an utmost sharp edge, where renewed reflection on the topics presented unfolds, quite disturbingly. Her ability to transform usual or unusual theatric settings is phenomenal.

With the (rappidly appearing) series of short videos from the performance (lasting 4 hours everytime! ) on patalab02, I have tried to investigate how the concepts and stratagems of vlogging could, eventually, be creatively expanded.

This, funnily, resulted quite rapidly in having most of the US. viewers, subscribing for instance to patalab02 via feedburner or meefedia, to drop out.
I guess it is more than this type of audience can comprehend, blinded by TV schemata.
At the same time more viewers from France, Canada and South America tuned in.

Thanks for your comment.
